Install MySQL on Ubuntu 16.04

The world's most popular open source database - MySQL is an open-source database management system.

Open your terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T, Unity Linux Ubuntu) and add this:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mysql-server
sudo mysql_secure_installation

Testing MySQL

systemctl status mysql.service

If your MySQL server isn't running, you can start it with:

sudo systemctl mysql start
